For the first time since 2015, Kansas City has a legit shot at making the postseason. The Royals went down nearly as fast as they rose when they won the AL pennant in 2014 and the World Series in 2015, but there are reasons to be excited going into 2022. Bobby Witt Jr., one of the best prospects in all of baseball, is a 20-20 candidate in his first year, and Zack Grienke returns to the team where he won a Cy Young Award. The young offense was also quite good defensively, when they finished fourth in the American League in defense. Veteran Carlos Santana joins Salvador Perez and a young lineup featuring Adalberto Mondesi, Andrew Benintendi, and Michael A. Taylor. Grienke is followed in the rotation by Brad Keller and Kris Bubic, who was lights out last September.
